The story about our little Monty Boy
On August 30th, 2013 we adopted little three-year-old Monty Boy from an animal shelter. The previous owner had too many cats and were forced to put some of them up for adoption, one of them being Monty.
The first time we met Monty, there were no doubts in our minds that he was going to come live with us. His special appearance makes him look so incredibly cute, but his personality, which he showed from the very beginning, is rare as a diamond! Monty shared a room with some of the other cats from the animal shelter and even though a few of them acted a little aggressive and lashed out at him, Monty continued to lie calmly and quietly, uneager to pick a fight.

We have been through a lot with the little guy due to some problems caused by his innate chromosome abnormalities. Monty was born with a sunken nasal bridge (the bone in the nose) which affects him now and then and makes him sneeze a bit. His breathing is just fine like a normal cat. Due to his chromosome abnormalities his bladder something leaks a bit in his sleep. It is not a problem to us though—Monty is born this way; he can't help it and luckily it’s just a few drops and it's not every day. Whenever we notice a little pee on the blankets we just wash them right away.
As said before, Monty is a very gentle cat and his personality reflects that of course. He will share his love with every human being, and dogs as well, but over the years he has become so close with especially me (Michael, his dad) and if he sees me cuddle another cat, he will hiss at it and tell me who I belong to. If Monty in rare cases gets nervous (if, for instance, someone in my family picks him up and it's a month since he has seen the person), he'll let us know with a simple meow and never his claws. Monty has a really strong personality! If he wants something he will scream until we get it and do what he wants. He gets those weird ideas sometimes... Suddenly he wants to get up on the closet. There is nothing there, but he just wants to and it has to be NOW! Then he will meow until I lift him up. It can also be a shelves in a closet or something else really high up. A few minutes later, he will meow really loudly because he wants down and then I lift him down. He will come to my hand so I can reach him and he trusts me completely that I will not drop him. And then there's the cuddling. When Monty wants to cuddle he will start purring like any other cat, but he will also get a really big puffy tail and then start the screaming/meowing until we cuddle with him. He will also show us where he wants to cuddle. Most likely the bed! Then he will meow a lot until we give up what we are doing and follow him. He will then show us the bed and we have to lay in it. We can't just sit, otherwise he will continue the loud meowing because maybe he knows that we are on our way up again. If we lay down we will probably stay a little longer. He's a clever boy!
At night he'll keep us company, not leaving our side until we wake up. He always lays between my legs on top of my blanket. That's just the way things have to be according to Monty. If it's really hot in the summertime and I want to sleep without the blanket or with a really thin one, he will not accept it and that means; no sleep until he has his blanket to lay on and I'm sweating like crazy but I'll do everthing for my boy. Mikala gets a real kick out of it because she can sleep however she wants.
We wish for Monty to be an ambassador for special needs animals that may not look perfect in everyone's eyes! We also want to raise attention to the fact that looking different doesn't mean you can't be fantastic. And we believe that our sweet little Monty Boy is a perfect example to just that and in every way is FANTASTIC!

Happy Easter Monty. You should very much like my glennie – she is incredibly bossy and loud. Like yourself came from a home where the lady had many cats and was forced to give up. From memory, she had around 30. Glennie is a indoor cat and is now around 11 years old. I took forward to reading more of your adventures ♥️

The Montyboy items are wonderful and I find it great that you with the sale of the things to help other cats in need. I love you Monty, you’re an incredibly sweet boy, and continue to do good with your mission. A question, will there possibly be a nice T-shirt from Monty in the shop? Which would be great
You guys are such an inspiration! I actually started u tubing and posting pics of my Remfy boy, he doesn’t have birth defects, he was abused as a kitten. But like Monty he is defying the odds and living a happy full life! He will be turning 13 on daddy’s day after it was said he would never live past 6! His one eye is whited out from cataracts due to his free floating lense, and his tail looks like a crank. But he’s a sweetie and stubborn, just like Monty! God bless you!

I didn’t know Monty had a chromosome disorder that affected his overall health. I have one too, diagnosed later in life and I’m still learning how it affects me. Monty is an inspiration, and I love hearing the acceptance of knowing he was born the way he is. I can learn a lot from that. Thank you for that and for bringing happiness to my FB feed when it’s usually all negativity!

Being a huge animal lover I cannot tell u how much I admire your family and the love that radiates in your pictures. I have rescued more animals than I can count and as long as I am here, there will always be room in my house and heart for more. I lost my old cat last week. He was just too old and he turn yellow so we knew that it was the time for him to leave. He was my best friend, my love, my baby. Monty make me laught and smile everyday. He just remind me how cat his beautiful. When I see the picture of Michael the first time he take monty, me tears start to drop. One day, i will go to a shelter to take a special cat. Love the photo of Michael first holding Monty. Monty is staring up at Michael with the same love he shows now. He knew that was his forever daddy. I’m so happy Mikala saw Monty and you went straight away to see him. I love his personality and seeing and hearing about your happy family. Monty has captured so many hearts, his personality just leaps off the screen. And your live computer chats where Monty shows he’s clearly in charge haha! I love you Monty! I would have adopted you in a heartbeat. Once I finish with rehab and find a place to live I will be getting another cat and I want one no one else wants, maybe a blind cat or one like you. Thank God for people like your mom and dad!! Lots of hugs, kisses and purrs from the U.S.A.

Monty is very handsome. You and your wife are wonderful people. I rescue cats and have 12 inside at the moment and 2 outside, the ones outside I have had fixed and returned them outside, if I see they will not strive outside I will bring them in, find them a home or keep them.
Some of my cats have problems but that makes them extra special. My ginger cat Mr. Hefner sleeps on me the same as Monty does on you. If my legs aren’t the way he wants them he taps on my leg until I move them.
I could go on and on about cats.

Hi Monty! I followed you from Facebook, I just had to read your story! I think you would be the most perfect ambassador for special needs cats, you are a super guy!!! You remind me of my uncle who just passed away not quite a year ago. He had Down’s Syndrome but he was always happy, and always full of love. When I see your picture come up on my newsfeed I get a little sad, but then I cheer up right away as I read your posts! I wish you the best, Monty Boy. Love you!!!
