Cats often purr when they are in a comfortable and peaceful state. It can be a sign that they are content and feeling safe in their environment.
Cats may purr to establish or strengthen social bonds with other cats or humans. The rhythmic vibrations of purring can be soothing and comforting, creating a sense of closeness and trust.
Purring has been observed in cats during times of stress or injury. It is believed that the vibrations produced by purring have a self-soothing effect, helping cats to calm themselves in challenging situations and even promoting healing.
Cats may use purring as a means of communication. They can purr to indicate their presence, seek attention, or request food and care from their human companions.
Purring is not limited to positive emotions. Cats can also purr when they are anxious, scared, or in pain. In these cases, purring may serve as a self-comforting mechanism or a way to signal distress to their owners.

I am so sorry Monty has had so many problems through the years, but things are getting better. I know it is hard for you to keep up with the feeding and insulin being on a time schedule. We have a diabetic dog and has to be fed at a certain time and given his insulin on schedule. You are so good to Monty and I know he loves you for that. I want to thank you for the interesting information you provided, especially the one about purring.
Well take care and give Monty a big hug for me. 💕💕 🐯
